After my step Dad's passing on Dec 8, 2022, we decided to get away from the city for a bit. For 3 days we spent time with some friends near the Anza Borrego area.
We welcomed the new year there. The place felt peaceful.
This trip was marked by the visit of Susan's Dad. I also lost my hat on the fairy ride to the island. Was able to capture some interesting pictures. However, there was too many people in the tourist section of the island. Hopefully one day we will come back to visit the part of the island where most tourists don't go.
We decided to visit Point Dume because it seems like a good idea for the 4th of July. Our visit also coincided with the Malibu 4th of July parade. It was fun. Maybe I should had taken some pictures.
This was our first trip to Solvang. Back in November 2005 I had driven through it with some friends, but didn't make a stop.
So for 17 years or so going back had been in the back of my head. Finally, one day we just decided to go and see what the fuss was all about.
We did the little trolley tour around town and was very happy. We walked through the shops and enjoyed the architecture the town has. However, we decided to wait until night fell. I had the feeling the place was really going to shine after dark.
